Time Spent in Hospital by the Accused will not be considered as part of Police Custody: SC

Accepting the plea of the CBI, the Supreme Court (SC) extended the police custody of an accused, for conducting investigation, since he was hospitalised in the initial period of custody and, thereafter, was granted interim bail. The SC observed that “the respondent-accused has successfully avoided the full operation of the order of police custody granted by the learned special judge… No accused can be permitted to play with the investigation and/or the court’s process. No accused can be permitted to frustrate the judicial process by his conduct.
