US Appeals Court Upholds Ruling that Copyright requires ‘Human Authorship’

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, US (‘Appellate Court’) upheld the ruling of the District Court of Columbia (‘DC Court’) which, deciding on copyrighting the works created by artificial intelligence (AI), held that human authorship is the bedrock of requirement of a copyright. The Appellate Court reaffirmed the DC Court’s decision that AI works cannot be copyrighted.
