FTC restrains InMarket from selling precise location data of its consumers

InMarket Media (InMarket) – a data aggregator company has entered into a settlement order with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) following the complaint made against InMarket which alleges that InMarket failed to inform, in detail, consumers while obtaining their consent before collecting and using their location data for advertising and marketing purposes. The FTC’s settlement order with InMarket includes mandatory deleting or destroying all previously collected location data of its consumers, providing a way for consumers to withdraw their consent, notifying consumers about the FTC’s action, limiting the collection or use of location data, among other things.
