EC accepts commitments offered by Spanish-state owned rail operator Renfe

The European Commission (EC) has accepted the commitments provided by the Spanish state-owned rail operator – Renfe, as per which Renfe agreed to provide “real-time data related to its passenger rail transport services to rival ticketing platforms”. Commitments offered are in the backdrop of alleged abuse of dominance by Renfe, wherein the EC observed that, by refusing to provide rival ticketing platforms, Renfe prevented these platforms from effectively competing with Renfe’s own direct digital channels to the detriment of consumers.
