CCI dismisses AoD case against state-owned Kerala State Road Transport Corporation

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has dismissed an information filed before it against Kerala state government owned – Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) for the allegations of abuse of dominant position by charging excessive prices on the Nilakkal-Pamba route leading to Sabarimala temple. As per the information, KSRTC has acquired the exclusive right to provide public transport service on the said route, wherein the KSRTC charges exorbitant fees from the passengers during the pilgrim season. However, the CCI while noting that the exclusivity granted to the KSRTC falls under the policy decision of the government of Kerala, and thus outside the scope of competition law, closed the matter.
